Do we want to coders, scientists and mathematicians? What made the West rise, and now the East, has been the left brain sciences.
Now we ponder a new future. The age of automation and cognitive computing is upon us; yet another paradigm shift. The current education system is just not cutting it. As more jobs get displaced, are we quick enough to find our own, purpose of being. For truly only what makes us human, will setus apart.
Everything changes. As more and more gets done by automatons, what we hold dear as magical experiences, will become increasingly moot. Today, stepping into a physical store is almost purely experiential, we crave it we pay a premium for it. As food gets prepared in the kitchen (by robots), what we will have (left) to savour will be the sommelier’s conversation. We will pay for analogue, just like how turntables are making a comeback.
Buying a LP, is about the find, the collectors chase and reminiscing old times. Much like a book club, with all the epubs we read; having similar kindred spirits discuss a topic. It’s really art. Art, music will be how we express ourselves in the future. Everything else will be augmented, but that part of us remains human.
The industrial revolution was left brained, make no mistake about it. Just as the West rose on maths and sciences, those are now prevalent in the East. We go through cycles, and now we find our right brains wanting as we interface with robots.
