In a world connected, everything about us is becoming digitally more persistent. There’s nothing off the record anymore. Every nuance. Every interaction. Every footprint physical or virtual. Our wants and needs on display, or at the very least, easily inferred.

The digital divide is no more. It’s ubiquitous. The Age of Ultron is upon us 😉

We will have guardian angels that will be acting on our behalf. They will have to contend with the plethora of demons representing  the sea of brands out there. Want a carton of milk? Your angel predicts and orders in advance. Demons out there offer deals that will entice your angel, and they barter future trades for current cash value and other whimsical wants and needs. Literally its digital IOU. 

• Our angels will be omniscient, they will be anywhere and everywhere in digital space, almost our conscience. Who knows, like the movie “Her”, our angels may even take physical shape one day. Not very far fetched really.

Your angel may plan a romantic getaway for two, find a slot in both your diaries and make all the necessary arrangements. But, she may also have “promised” another demon he/ she would do a repeat purchase in the near/ defined future. Between both angel and demon, they’ve already shook on the financial deal shape. Scary?

What’s more interesting is when we have a family of angels working together. You and your wife’s, your friend’s, your daughter’s. They need to start piecing together everyone’s wish lists! They go into overdrive, finding best fit and trying to make everyone happy. And so goes a team of demons, since family/ group dynamics will change the “database of intentions“. But we already know that we wear different hats, behave differently as an individual and are influenced by friends and family. 

Could your angel be “bought”? What if demons from new startup brands wanted a peek into your psyche? What if some brands were willing to pay more for your attention? Can your angel be corrupted? Today we deal with spam. Tomorrow we have to keep ourselves (and our angels) honest. 

Brings a whole new perspective to the word inception. Again, another movie. I’d hate to think the new world order would favor those with smarter angels. Can an angel’s conscience be hijacked, skinned or temporarily infused with corporate influences? 

Your conscience, your values are embedded in your avatar, and in sentry/ auto mode she’s an angel, looking after you in the “background”. You can hijack, manually intervene, veto and activate avatar mode, participating in real-life interactions. But chances are, you’re up against the mundane, or other very smart angels  and demons! So the longer you’ve had your angel, the better he/ she gets at getting.. You.
